Carpathian Night

You are invited to an evening of Carpathian folk music, song, and dance at:

St. Blase Church

Lower Level
6101 S. 75th Ave.

Argo, IL 60501

Sunday, May 18th

7:00pm to 9:00pm

Brought to you by the Chicago Association of Carpathian Folk Artists.

The Chicago Association of Carpathian Folk Artists (CACFA) was formed in 2002 with the intention of bringing folk music of the Carpathian Mountains to Chicago.  Started by a group of Polish Highlander musicians, CACFA has grown quickly to include music, song, and dance from Poland, Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia.  All members of CACFA are volunteers who have given their time to the preservation of these valuable cultures.

In this benefit concert, all proceeds will be used to sponsor folk groups performing traditional music from countries of the Carpathian Mountains.  You will hear music played on rare instruments such as the cimbalom (Hungarian hammered dulcimer), shepherds’ flutes from Podhale and Slovakia, bagpipes from Podhale, and złobcoki (primitive fiddle) from Podhale, as well as on contemporary string instruments.  So come and join us in exploring the colorful cultures of the Carpathians.
